5 Ideas to Feel Better After a Breakup

Breakups are rough. Especially when you were in a relationship for a long time and when it is over self-care is important to practice. So, here are 9 ideas to help you feel better after your heart is broken.
Breakup playlist: With the invention of Spotify, this step is easy to do. Music has always been my go-to after a rough moment in life. Music allows us to feel and process emotions better. It also allows us to relax and be distracted. It is honestly amazing what a good breakup song can do for the soul. Take the time to create that playlist and block out the world and get to your happy space. My personal favorite is Ridin’ Solo by Jason Derulo.  Talk to people about it: You should take the time to tell people about your breakup because this works to get your feelings out there and deal with it. Also, a little empathy from another helps you deal with everything. Processing emotions after a breakup is a crucial part of moving on and getting to a better mental state. This is nice abo…

4 Ideas To Keep Your Kids Busy During Quarantine

This post goes out to all the hardworking parents out there. Raising kids is not easy. Especially since you and your kid are stuck at home due to quarantine. Even so, getting to spend time with your little one is amazing, but sometimes you can get more than you bargained for. So here are 4 ideas to keep your kids busy during the quarantine.
Chores: This one not only helps your child keep busy but allows you to take care of your home in the process. Chores range from picking up their toys to washing dishes. Throw a little incentive in, and you can easily keep them busy for a bit while you get some work done for your new online job. Doing chores also develops a good habit that is essential for kids to learn, which is to take care of the space they inhabit. According to Psychology Todaychores allow for the acquisition of new skills, that also helps the child to foster positive self-esteem when they complete a task. I like to think of it as teaching them a life lesson early, which they ca…

Making Our Plastic Waste Edible

Plastic is one of the most useful materials as it is super cheap and easy to produce. Plastic utensils allow us to enjoy a meal without the cleanup. Plastic packaging makes us carry stuff with ease and safety. Our momentary convenience is often devastating for marine animals. Marine animals get entangled in this plastic waste and sadly die due to the complications incurred. It is estimated that 100 million marine mammals are killed due to plastic pollution every year.  There is a solution to this problem, and that is using packaging and cutlery substitutes that are biodegradable. Biodegradable means that the product is capable of being decomposed by bacteria or other living organisms. To take a further step forward here's to products that are both biodegradable and edible.
Let us start with the one you are probably thinking of, edible spoons! These spoons are made of wheat, rice, or millet flours and were first introduced in 2010. Edible spoons are meant to be used in place of pla…

4 Ideas That Countries Can Implement To Re-engineer Their Waste

Trash is everywhere, in our oceans, in our landfills, and sometimes on our roadsides. Trash is devastating for the environment. It is proven that plastics negatively impact marine life. Additionally, food waste also adds Methane to the atmosphere, and landfills cause toxic chemicals to leak into the ground, poisoning groundwater. Re-engineering means to take a product and modify it for another purpose that is useful to us humans. Trash is not useless as it can be re-engineered for a purpose, rather than ending up in our landfills and oceans. So here are 5 ideas that countries can implement to re-purpose their waste.
New Roads: A lot of the stuff people throw out are plastics. Plastic is derived from crude oil. Roads are paved with very similar stuff that is called bitumen, which is a petroleum-based binding agent in asphalt. The waste plastic is turned into pellets that are melted and converted into bitumen. Afterward, it is mixed with the asphalt, and voila, you got a road that saves…

5 Ideas For A Quarantine Date Night

The romantic in me has inspired this post. Being stuck at home has been lonely at times. Not being able to meet the people you care about in-person tests relationships. Even though I am single, I can still give good advice. So here are 5 ideas for a quarantine date night.
Play a video game together: This is an idea that can be applied to all relationships and not just romantic ones. There are tons of multiplayer games couples, or friends can play together. If you do not have a console, there are many games you can play on your computer. You can play games ranging from The Sims to Call of Duty. Not to mention, there are games like Truth or Dare, Catan, and Cards Against Humanity that have online versions. Playing games is a great way to get to know someone better and also have fun in the meantime. Also, I feel like people let their guard down when gaming making it a great icebreaker. So call up the girl you like or the friend you want to have fun with and let the games begin!

Using Biochar To Save The Planet

Carbon dioxide is the main component responsible for climate change. Currently, we have no sustainable solution to limit the amount of carbon dioxide we produce as humans. This is causing us to continue to put CO2 into the atmosphere, adding to climate change.  However, with the utilization of carbon sequestration, we can at least attempt to become carbon neutral in a sustainable fashion.
Carbon sequestration is when we take carbon from either the air or another source and place it deep into the ground. This allows us to walk back some of the CO2 we put into the atmosphere. It is sustainable because the carbon stays in the ground for a long time. One such carbon sequestration project is biochar.
Biochar is charcoal that is made from biomass via a process known as pyrolysis. Biomass is any plant or animal material that is used in energy production. Some examples include the waste from food crops, wood leftovers, and even animal manure. Pyrolysis is a process where carbon-based materials…

10 Ideas To Be A Better Human Today

Humans are inherently able to empathize with others. Many of us sometimes get droned out by life to the point where we become blind to people struggling around us. Being a good human should just be being human. Seeing people starve, struggle, and hurt just breaks my heart. To help them out should be second nature to us, sadly many walk by and carry on in their life. Some people dedicate their lives to helping others, and they are the true humans among us. If every human on this planet did their part in being better the world would be a better place. So let us start, here are 10 ideas for you to be a better human being today.
1.Call a charity to Volunteer: Do not worry, you do not need to volunteer today. Just make the call to a local charity and arrange a day where you can go, volunteer. Whatever date, time, and place work for you. Charities often run on volunteer support, and by helping them out, you can give your time to a good cause. Heck, take your family or friends with you and …

Drop Tree Bombs To Save The Planet

So this idea is what it sounds like. I've talked about climate change in my blogs. Mainly because it's something that I’m passionate about. I truly feel like the solutions are out there and we just need to make them happen. One such project is using aerial reforestation to restore forests.
Trees are a lifeline of this planet, in the age of climate change. We can only plant so many trees by hand and it is not a cost-effective method for regrowing forests. Trees act like carbon sinks taking the carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and produce oxygen for us. What is great is that the carbon produced is ideally returned to the ground. This allows these plants to aid in reversing and mitigating the devastating effect humans have on the environment. Also, trees help maintain water levels in the ground as well as prevent erosion. Don’t forget how amazing they can be as a habitat for creatures of all kinds.
Aerial reforestation is exactly what it sounds like, reforesting the earth by dr…

Melting Ice Solution: Wrap Greenland in a Blanket

Climate change has affected us all in some way or another. As time progresses we continue to learn the tough lesson that we only have one planet and that we need to take care of it. However, there is hope, because innovation and a global effort can save us. One such Idea is to wrap Greenland in a Blanket.
Greenland is made up of 80% Ice. Ice has a unique property here on earth as it acts as a mirror reflecting the sun's rays into the atmosphere. This is also known as the Albedo effect: To put it simply it is an object's ability to reflect light. By reflecting light into the atmosphere, instead of absorbing it, the arctic can stay cold all year round. Now the carbon dioxide and other gases in the atmosphere act like a reflected ray catcher and send the reflected rays back to earth. Making the planet warmer, thus melting the ice sheets. The more ice sheets melt, a lesser amount the sun's rays are reflected into the atmosphere the next time around.
Why Greenland? It is becaus…

5 Natural And Renewable Sources To Harvest Electricity

Energy is all around us and in the natural movements of this world. It can come from all sources and sizes. The ideal is to allow us to fight against climate change with alternative energy sources. You may already know most of these but here they are.
Volcanoes/Geothermal energy
We have this bounty of energy beneath us that we can use. A typical electric generator uses steam to turn the generator in turn producing electricity. To create this steam water needs to be boiled in large quantities. Coal, oil, and natural gas are some of the main sources of fuel for these large scale boilers. As you know they are extremely bad for the environment as they produce large amounts of carbon dioxide. Now we have a natural heat source on this planet that has no rival and that's volcanoes. Included in these categories are guizers, magma chambers, and other volcano-related phenomena. This heat can be used to boil water to produce the steam needed for the generator. Such a feat has been accomplishe…

Why We Still Don't Have Electric Planes

Planes have revolutionized the way we travel. We can now get to our destinations with much more ease and convenience than ever before. Sadly, taking trips often is too expensive for us regular folk. There is a solution and that is the idea for the electric plane.

What is technology?Electric planes have been around for a long time. You may know them as toy planes or dronesAll that is needed is to use that technology as a model and scale up the operationElectric planes have been created before and have sustained flight. Ultimately the main reason they are not in the market is because of the lack of battery technology
Limitations Due To The BatteryTo fly a plane it takes a lot of fuel, about a gallon of fuel a second. A battery will need to produce enough electricity to be able to match that which is produced by fuel.
A battery's ability to hold power is measured in specific energy. Right now even the best batteries only have 250 Wh/kg (watt-hours per kilogram). To start flying we nee…
