10 Ideas To Be A Better Human Today

Image
Humans are inherently able to empathize with others. Many of us sometimes get droned out by life to the point where we become blind to people struggling around us. Being a good human should just be being human. Seeing people starve, struggle, and hurt just breaks my heart. To help them out should be second nature to us, sadly many walk by and carry on in their life. Some people dedicate their lives to helping others, and they are the true humans among us. If every human on this planet did their part in being better the world would be a better place. So let us start, here are 10 ideas for you to be a better human being today.
1.Call a charity to Volunteer: Do not worry, you do not need to volunteer today. Just make the call to a local charity and arrange a day where you can go, volunteer. Whatever date, time, and place work for you. Charities often run on volunteer support, and by helping them out, you can give your time to a good cause. Heck, take your family or friends with you and …

Melting Ice Solution: Wrap Greenland in a Blanket

Image
Climate change has affected us all in some way or another. As time progresses we continue to learn the tough lesson that we only have one planet and that we need to take care of it. However, there is hope, because innovation and a global effort can save us. One such Idea is to wrap Greenland in a Blanket.
Greenland is made up of 80% Ice. Ice has a unique property here on earth as it acts as a mirror reflecting the sun's rays into the atmosphere. This is also known as the Albedo effect: To put it simply it is an object's ability to reflect light. By reflecting light into the atmosphere, instead of absorbing it, the arctic can stay cold all year round. Now the carbon dioxide and other gases in the atmosphere act like a reflected ray catcher and send the reflected rays back to earth. Making the planet warmer, thus melting the ice sheets. The more ice sheets melt, a lesser amount the sun's rays are reflected into the atmosphere the next time around.
Why Greenland? It is becaus…

Azolla Event and Climate Change

Image
So this is going to be more of an advocacy post for climate change. Let me start by saying that the earth existed before us and it will continue to exist long after us. Human activities create the climate change that we experience now. While some people still deny this statement, every science educated individual knows this to be a fact. This post will talk about the Azolla event 49 million years ago and as gives us insight into our current global situation.
The Azolla event is an event that occurred 49 million years ago in the middle Eocene epoch. Before this event, the world was so hot that there could be palm trees and alligators on the north pole. Now the earth was hot, mainly because of the carbon dioxide produced from volcanic activity. It was so much CO2 that it made the earth a sauna. Now the reality is humans can’t live in these conditions, but reptiles can, and in fact, they were quite prevalent during this time.
Well, what does this mean? It means that the earth has experie…

5 Ideas To Help You Live Longer

Image
Most of us have the dream to live a complete and full life but sadly many of us pass before our time is up. Some of this can be attributed to “acts of God” like a car accident or natural disaster. What I want to talk about today is some ideas that when used will help you extend your life expectancy.
Diet: Let me start by saying that there is no magic diet to make you live longer. Common culture will say go keto, paleo, or high carb. Even so in reality, there is no definitive proof that those diets extend your longevity. When examining centenarians, it is found that the best diet is a balanced one. A balanced diet means including carbs, protein, sugars, vitamins, fats, minerals, all at appropriate levels. This means make sure you're not eating too much protein or too little carbs. It's all about balance. The perfect diet for any individual is one that is made when the individual understands their body and how it works. Some people need more sugar in their system because of low …

5 Ideas To Make a Meaningful Impact In Your Community

Image
A lot of us have a community belong to, but many walk by them everyday moving onwards with life. To make a difference in the world one needs to only start with the people around them, their community. So I decided to come up with the following ideas to help you better serve the people around you.
Volunteering: Now, to keep this concise, volunteering, in this case, means helping any local place with your time. For example, serving food at a soup kitchen, or picking up trash. Volunteering is such an amazing thing to do for your community because it brings so much personal satisfaction to both the volunteer and the community. It’s something that illuminates the faces of strangers and helps form everlasting bonds with others. Volunteering is giving time to help someone with something. Some of the benefits of volunteering include improving your resume, personal satisfaction, building relationships, and networks. The thing about volunteering is that it is really easy to get started. Just fi…

Alternative Ideas to Defunding The Police

Image
Nowadays when I look at social media all I see are strong opinions and ideas, and to be honest it scares me. The reason why it scares me is because when an idea gets traction, all other possible solutions to the problems we face are barely ever shown or discussed. So I wanted to present some of my ideas about the motion to defund the police in the city of Toronto.
Being raised in Toronto, I've learned to accept the good with the bad like any city. Even as a child I had run-ins with the authorities which made me feel unsafe or uncomfortable. I have also seen the good that having a strong police system brings. Right now you must be thinking what good could the Toronto police possibly be doing. Well, I wanted to share with you the Youth in Policing initiative. It's an initiative run by the Toronto police service to help bring cops closer to the communities they protect. This initiative is a program that employs students from grades 9-12 in a be a cop for a day type program, but i…
